February 12, 2018

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. January minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 9 runs last month (none billable) –  need new members!  Planning Commission report: no business conducted.   Park report: 20th Annual Easter Egg Hunt 3/25 at 2pm. Discussed: Board of Review and Planning Commission members appointed for 2-year terms, budget workshop 3/8 at 9am and annual Road Commission meeting in Port Huron on 2/26 at 1pm. Ad will be in paper for new Senior Director soon.  Audience: nothing.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 7:50pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

January 8, 2018

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn. Pledge of Allegiance recited. Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. December minutes approved. Treasurer’s report approved. Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 11 runs last month (none billable) – motion to hire Nathanial McBride passed. Planning Commision report: splits approved. Senior report: exercise on Tuesdays, cards on Thursdays, and 94 attended Christmas potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Discussed: resolution to oppose package of bills that limit our say on road right-of-way issues, supplemental health insurance payment for secretary, Summer 2018 reconstruction of Capac Road from Belle River Road south to Macomb County, 2020 census, update of Master Plan, street lights to convert to LED and cell towers. Audience questions and comments: question about clean-up days. Motion to pay the bills made and accepted. Motion to adjourn 8:00pm. December 11, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn & Wittstock. Absent: Christian.  November minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 12 runs last month (maybe one billable) –  Breakfast with Santa went well (thanks to added help from families of firefighters) and “duty” as Berville Lions Santa comes to Town on 12/16.  Planning Commision report: no business conducted.   Senior report: exercise on Tuesdays, cards on Thursdays, and several attended Christmas potluck (every 4th Tuesday).  Discussed: solar energy ordinance, increase in drain funds, waste water system, pay adjustment for secretary, robberies are on the upswing and office will be closed 12/26.  Audience questions and comments: none. Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn & Wittstock. Absent: Christian.  October minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 12 runs last month (none billable) –  Breakfast with Santa 12/3 (8am-1pm) and “duty” at Berville Lions Santa Comes to Town on 12/16.  Planning Commission report: one split request approved.   Senior report: exercise on Tuesdays, cards on Thursdays, and 64 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday); upcoming: Christmas party on 12/5.  Discussed: Road Commission Road Assistance approval, ditching on Tubspring/Wheeler, new handicapped toilets at Senior Center, looking for a new planner, Waste Water payments, and a couple items being looked into.  Audience questions and comments: none. October 9, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. September minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 15 runs last month (one billable) –  Breakfast with Santa 12/3 (8am-1pm). Planning Commission report: two split requests-one will be approved and planner will make recommendation on another issue (party didn’t come to the meeting) and that recommendation is what will be followed.   Senior report: exercise on Tuesdays, cards on Thursdays, and 55 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday); upcoming: Christmas party on 12/5.  Discussed: ditching projects, election workers for Armada Schools election, street lights that are out and park millage request.  Audience questions and comments: issues on Fox Ridge Lane and cell towers going up in Berlin Township.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:05pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

September 11, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. August minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 11 runs last month (none billable) – they are thankful for their members and life-saving equipment. Planning Commission report: one split request needs more information.   Senior report: exercise Tuesday (8/1, 8 & 29), cards on Thursday (8/3, 10, 24 & 31), and 47 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday); upcoming: breakfast 9/13, potluck 9/26 and Bingo 10/4. Discussed:  adopted Resolution 2017-08 for Road Assistance monies, cell towers, ditching and USDA payment due. Board member questions and comments: street light repairs, culverts, investing in a new CD and opt-out of adopting a marijuana ordinance (to keep dispensaries out of Berlin Township).  Audience questions and comments: issue on Fox Ridge Lane that is in the hands of the attorney and ham operator tower issue on Fox Ridge Lane.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:15pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

August 14, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. July minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Assistant Chief Bonner: responded to 21 runs last month (none billable). Planning Commission report: had 2 split requests – one was approved.   Senior report: exercise Tuesday (7/11 & 18), cards on Thursday (7/6, 13, 20 & 27), and 54 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Discussed: audit presentation, culvert replacement approved for Hunt Road, approved to chloride Miller Road with 2nd application, two issues going to circuit court, Senior Spaghetti Dinner to be held at the senior center on 10/22 and approval to apply for road assistance monies for ditching projects to improve roads. Board member questions and comments: road speed signs for Berville & Allenton, added insurance for Fire Department and Hannah Drain residents will get bills due to redistricting.  Audience questions and comments: civil issue on Messmer Road, and ham operator tower and trailer owner issues on Fox Ridge Lane.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:30pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

July 10, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. June minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 10 runs last month (none billable), have an issue with a run location and Allenton Auto did a nice job fixing Water II truck. Planning Commission report: home occupation business on Gould Road approved (attorney recommendation) and two splits need to go to Land Mgmt for approval.   Senior report: exercise Tuesday (6/6 & 13), cards on Thursday (6/1, 8, 15, 22 & 29), and 60 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Discussed: lagoon tower, grant applications for voting equipment, renewal of township insurances, ditching of roads and road funding application. Board member questions and comments: street lights needing repairs, issues with uncashed checks and road work on Miller Road.  Audience questions and comments: civil issues on Messmer Road, and ham operator tower and trailer owner issues on Fox Ridge Lane.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:35pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

BOARD MEETING SYNOPSIS
June 12, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. May minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Assistant Chief Bonner: responded to 18 runs last month (none billable), will be working fireworks 6/23 and 3-Day event July 14-16 at the Lions field. Planning Commission report: on-going request for home occupation business on Gould Road and approval of cell tower at the lagoon.  Zoning Board of Appeals had a meeting with regard to the Allenton party store – request approved with minor adjustments.   Senior report: exercise Tuesday (5/2, 9 & 30), cards on Thursday (5/4, 11, 18 & 25), 15 attended Bingo and 73 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday); upcoming 6/27 hot dog picnic potluck. Park report: walking track to be weeded, grass to grow on volleyball, quotes being gotten for pavilion roof and sign needs repair or replace. Discussed: sewer issue at twp hall and replacement of culverts. Board member questions and comments: tax bills going out soon and auditors were in for audit.  Audience questions and comments: cemetery issue, maintenance at senior center and ham operator tower on Fox Ridge Lane.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:10pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.
