BOARD MEETING SYNOPSIS
August 14, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. July minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Assistant Chief Bonner: responded to 21 runs last month (none billable). Planning Commission report: had 2 split requests – one was approved.   Senior report: exercise Tuesday (7/11 & 18), cards on Thursday (7/6, 13, 20 & 27), and 54 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Discussed: audit presentation, culvert replacement approved for Hunt Road, approved to chloride Miller Road with 2nd application, two issues going to circuit court, Senior Spaghetti Dinner to be held at the senior center on 10/22 and approval to apply for road assistance monies for ditching projects to improve roads. Board member questions and comments: road speed signs for Berville & Allenton, added insurance for Fire Department and Hannah Drain residents will get bills due to redistricting.  Audience questions and comments: civil issue on Messmer Road, and ham operator tower and trailer owner issues on Fox Ridge Lane.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:30pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

July 10, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. June minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 10 runs last month (none billable), have an issue with a run location and Allenton Auto did a nice job fixing Water II truck. Planning Commission report: home occupation business on Gould Road approved (attorney recommendation) and two splits need to go to Land Mgmt for approval.   Senior report: exercise Tuesday (6/6 & 13), cards on Thursday (6/1, 8, 15, 22 & 29), and 60 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Discussed: lagoon tower, grant applications for voting equipment, renewal of township insurances, ditching of roads and road funding application. Board member questions and comments: street lights needing repairs, issues with uncashed checks and road work on Miller Road.  Audience questions and comments: civil issues on Messmer Road, and ham operator tower and trailer owner issues on Fox Ridge Lane.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:35pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

June 12, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. May minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Assistant Chief Bonner: responded to 18 runs last month (none billable), will be working fireworks 6/23 and 3-Day event July 14-16 at the Lions field. Planning Commission report: on-going request for home occupation business on Gould Road and approval of cell tower at the lagoon.  Zoning Board of Appeals had a meeting with regard to the Allenton party store – request approved with minor adjustments.   Senior report: exercise Tuesday (5/2, 9 & 30), cards on Thursday (5/4, 11, 18 & 25), 15 attended Bingo and 73 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday); upcoming 6/27 hot dog picnic potluck. Park report: walking track to be weeded, grass to grow on volleyball, quotes being gotten for pavilion roof and sign needs repair or replace. Discussed: sewer issue at twp hall and replacement of culverts. Board member questions and comments: tax bills going out soon and auditors were in for audit.  Audience questions and comments: cemetery issue, maintenance at senior center and ham operator tower on Fox Ridge Lane.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:10pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

May 8, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn. Pledge of Allegiance recited. Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. April minutes approved. Treasurer’s report approved. Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 8 runs last month (none billable), will have mutual aid in case water is needed while water truck is in for repair, will have cement work done at station and hired David Bloyd. Planning Commission report: on-going request for home occupation business on Gould Road. Zoning Board of Appeals will have a meeting 5/11 with regard to the Allenton party store (twp planner will attend). Senior report: exercise Tuesday (4/4 & 11), cards on Thursday (4/6, 13 & 20), 33 attended pancake breakfast and 59 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Park report: Country Garage Sale (June 1-3, $10 to get on map – applications available at twp hall). Discussed: had a Homeland Security presentation, tower at the lagoon and culverts that need replacement. Board member questions and comments: local road improvements and Flagstar as new bank of record. Audience questions and comments: brief discussion about noise. April 10, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. March minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Chief Phillips: responded to 9 runs last month (none billable), training on pipeline issues, got newer/better pagers and hired Mitchell McMurray. Planning Commission report: had 2 meetings: special land use approved and two splits and one sign request were tabled for lack of information items.  Senior report: exercise Tuesday (3/7 & 3/21)), cards on Thursday (3/9 & 3/23) and 43 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Park report: Easter Egg Hunt will be 4/9 at 2pm (bring a basket or bag).  Discussed: medical marijuana meeting in Richmond 3/7, Almont Road closure (repair is priority 1), budget hearing will be 4/10 at 7:15pm, homeland security presentation at next meeting and annual road tour will be 3/27. Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. January minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Assistant Chief Bonner: responded to 21 runs last month (none billable). Planning Commission report: worked on pheasant farm site plan – public hearing will be 3/2 at 7pm.  Senior report: exercise every Tuesday (10am), cards every Thursday (11:30am) and 39 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Park report: Easter Egg Hunt will be 4/9 at 2pm.  Discussed: lagoon tower, audits approved, next board meeting will be 3/6 and budget workshop will be 2/24 at 9am. Board member questions and comments: MSU clinic about medical marijuana attendance, trash disposal rates will be going up and census will be starting soon.  Audience questions and comments: ham radio tower issue on Fox Ridge discussion (will continue to work through it) and Ed Smith from Congressman Mitchell’s office gave a presentation and offered his help if ever we need it.  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 8:05pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor Winn.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn & Wittstock. December minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved.  Fire report given by Assistant Chief Bonner: responded to 9 runs last month (none billable). Planning Commission report: worked on Disorderly Conduct/Disturbing the Peace ordinance and pheasant farm site plan.  Senior report: exercise every Tuesday (10am), cards every Thursday (11:30am) and 74 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Discussed:  budget start-up for next fiscal year, “Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace” ordinance adopted and rescheduled March meeting for March 6th.  Board member questions and comments: MSU clinic about medical marijuana attendance, sewer system running well and issues with the Verizon tower need attention.  Audience questions and comments: ham radio tower issue on Fox Ridge discussion (will continue to work through it).  Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 7:55pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.

Senior report: exercise every Tuesday, cards every Thursday and 55 attended potluck (every 4th Tuesday). Discussed: medical marijuana law, disorderly conduct/disturbing the peace ordinance and county ORV ordinance. Board member questions and comments: working to have animal control allow for local purchase of dog licenses.
